An Exciting Milestone in Mackenzie's Surrogacy Journey
Mackenzie is now 19 weeks along in her surrogacy journey! Baby is now about the size of a mango 🥭! She just completed an amniocentesis which came back normal! Her warmth, positivity, and dedication shine through every step of the process, and it’s been such a joy to support her. Here’s a little update from Mackenzie herself on how things are going! 💛

How are you feeling physically and emotionally at this stage in your journey?
"Emotionally I am feeling a lot better. In the beginning after the transfer I felt a lot of pressure and anxiety brought on by no one but myself. At first it was pressure and anxiety of the transfer taking and then making it to each next milestone and there’s so much that can go wrong in those first weeks and I put a lot of pressure on myself even though it was completely out of my control. Now that I’ve gotten to see my belly bud a lot on ultrasounds and I’m in my second trimester, I am feeling so much better emotionally and a lot of that pressure and anxiety has subsided. Physically I have felt really good the entire time so far, I’ve had no pregnancy symptoms besides being super tired but I’ve gotten my energy back now!"
What has been the most rewarding part of your surrogacy journey so far?
"By far the most rewarding part of surrogacy so far has been seeing how excited my IPs are every time they get to see the ultrasounds and heartbeat! Their faces just light up with joy and I can see the pure joy on their faces!"
Have you faced any unexpected challenges or surprises, and how did you handle them?
"At around 7 weeks I did have a large subchorionic hematoma and a small one and that was pretty scary for me as with my previous pregnancies I never experienced any bleeding and I thought I was losing the baby. I went in for an ultrasound and the baby's heartbeat was still beating strong and that’s when they could see the SCH’s and I had to be on light duty and pelvic rest. By my next ultrasound one of the SCH’s had subsided and the large one was almost completely gone. "
How has your support system helped you through this journey?
"My support system has been amazing! I have such a great group of friends and family that are always willing to help watch my own kids when I have ultrasounds/appointments. They have also given such amazing emotional support when

I need it as well! My IPs are also amazing! I couldn’t have ever imagined having a different set of IPs, they’ve been so supportive every step of the way and always advocating for me and baby and being there for us at all times!"
How do you feel about the upcoming steps in the surrogacy process?
"I’m feeling really good about upcoming steps in the process, I’m really looking forward to the anatomy scan in a few short days and then after that I feel like the time will just fly by! ."
Is there anything you wish more people knew or understood about the surrogacy process?
"If there was one thing I wish more people knew or understood about surrogacy is that it’s a lot more than “just being pregnant with someone else’s baby”. We’re carrying these precious babies for people that have always dreamed of having a baby of their own and there’s just so much more emotion that play into it than people realize or even know."
Thank you for sharing your journey with us, Mackenzie! We look forward to sharing more updates soon!
